The Rajasthan state government has given a go-ahead signal for organizing the annual Maru desert festival in Jaisalmer that shall begin from February 25. Ashish Modi, District Collector of Jaisalmer has exclaimed that the festival shall also go on air live on online platforms such as YouTube. In addition to this, he further stated that the festival this year has numerous added attractions that include turban tying, mustache competitions, cultural as well as musical performances.
He also stated that in order to keep the people updated on all the required information related to the daily events that are to be hosted during the carnival, digital walls shall be installed at airports, railway stations, and several other places in the city.
Due to the ongoing global crisis, there was a doubt regarding the festival. But, after some time, the District Collector along with the MLA, Ruparam Dhandev sent a proposal to the state government, which later received approval. Keeping in mind the Covid-19 protocol, the preparations after getting a government nod are in full swing.
According to the latest news, it’s been reported that in order to get an entry into this festival, people are required to follow all safety measures like the proper use of masks and sanitizers.
This news has brought a fresh lease of life to the businessmen and the people related to tourism as they hope that such an event shall boost tourism in the state. In this connection, Mr Ashish Modi is of the opinion that the desert festival is the pride of the state and shall definitely give a positive jolt to the tourism sector of Jaisalmer.
In order to publicize the festival on social media platforms, no leaves are being kept unturned. A teaser has already been made. Spicejet, which has already begun its service from February 12 for Delhi and Ahmedabad, shall help the people come to this desert festival. Also, trains commuting from Jaisalmer to Jammu via Jaipur and New Delhi can be a feasible option for the visitors.
