The five star Taj Mahal hotel truly deserves a sixth star for Varq

Posted on December 8, 2016 by

The Taj Mahal hotel located in the national capital of the country is known for a great dining place known as Varq, apart from the trademark five-star services that the Taj Mahal group is known for. The restaurant matches pretty well with the standards set by the five-star hotel chains and while dealing mostly in the sea foods and north Indian cuisines, the place provides an exotic overall experience.

Varq is located inside the Taj Mahal hotel which happens to be located on the Mansingh Road in New Delhi and being a 4/5 star place, it may come across a little more expensive. The average cost for two people stands approximately at about 4500 INR.

Ambience

Despite being a part of the majestic 5-star hotel, Varq carries its own charm when it comes to the interiors and the overall vibe. It brilliantly showcases works by celebrated artist Anjolie Ela Menon. Boasting of traditional Indian themes and modern oil paintings, carvings, antiques and sculptures, this New Delhi restaurant is a fantastic fusion of cuisine and art.

The place has a beautiful ethnic décor with a red and black theme. The chandeliers on the hanging from the ceilings are covered with red clothes filling the indoors with a romantic reddish hue. This somehow makes the place ideal for a date with your partner.

Visiting the restaurant on a rainy day or stepping in while pleasant weather can be a treat to your senses as you can watch the delightful views through the large window panes. The overall aura of the place is strangely addictive and compels one to visit the place over and over again.

Cuisine

The options for the foodies may be limited but there is no compromise when it comes to the taste of the meals served at the place. The main menu of the restaurant happens to be filled with sea food items along with the north Indian ones, just to the preference of Delhiites. The nonvegetarian dishes are the highlights with items such as Tandoori lobster, Sukha mutton, and chili chicken. The aroma coming out of the dishes is exquisite and gets the taste buds mad in anticipation of a great meal. The other highlight of the place could very well be the Seafood Trio which includes tandoori prawns, ambedi fish tikka along with narangi black cod.

The vegetarians could have corn kabab and bhatti paneer, the non-meat highlights of the place. For the beverages, there are typical north Indian options available with a twist such as saffron lassi, pink ginger lassi, and fresh fruit juice.

Why visit the place at least once?

‘Varq‘ which refers to the beaten gold / silver edible leaf embellishes many a dessert and sometimes savory dishes in the Indian subcontinent. On the similar lines, the restaurant Varq is known to be the symbol of preciousness, extravagance, and elegance, a harmonious fusion of traditional and contemporary sophistication.
