Big Chill reminds you of the glorious days of Hollywood

Although, Big Chill, being a successful cafe chain that it is, has opened up quite a lot of outlets in Delhi alone, the one in Khan Market happens to be the most popular ones. It’s different from the rest and makes for an amazing treat to your senses. Big Chill Khan Market makes for the most amazing place for people who crave for casual western food. The film poster plastered bistro is infinitely amazing and the pasta is deliciously hearty.

The place is located in the crowded Khan Market and other major places. INR 700 is the average cost per person.

Ambience

Well, the theme of the restaurant is not very unique internationally, but talking about Delhi, it would be almost impossible to find a place like this. The walls are full of some classic old and new Hollywood films. The owners of the place do seem to be great Hollywood buffs. It would be a treat to the ardent fans of the American cinema as it would be a fun thing to spot your favorite classics over the innumerable posters. The tables and the chairs are comfortable to sit in. Although what attracted me the most, personally, was the lighting inside the place, which may seem normal to most, but being a film buff, I am pretty sure they are modeled on the neo-noir classics from the golden era of Hollywood. Maybe, the place takes me to the era itself, but that is what I honestly felt. Overall, the beautiful brick-laid, green interiors and prettily framed movie posters of yesteryears right from Casablanca to Hitchcock’s Psycho to James Bond bring all the charm to this place.

Food

For the ones who don’t know much about the impossibly huge menu items in general, it may take them about half an hour to decide what to eat. The place deals mostly in the continental, Italian and European cuisines. Out of the diverse options, we had, the ones that instantly became our favorites were Garlic Bread with cheese, four season pizza, and the exquisitely amazing pasta.

Talking about the beverages, if you happen to be here some time, never forget to try Banana smoothie, it is something to die for. Brownie shake and hot chocolate also are amazing per say, but the banana smoothie will take you to another level of taste.

The desserts served here seem to have more options than the actual menu. Of all of them, the specific ones which we loved were waffles, blueberry cheesecake, and oreo cheesecake.

Highlights

The place is a perfect destination for the pizza and creamy pasta lovers and that is the biggest highlight in itself. There are no other places in Khan Market that come even nearby to Big Chill when it comes to that.

Big Chill is now a reputed name that is synonymous with quality, efficiency, taste and more than that, trustworthiness. This is what has earned the place a loyal customer base. Very few places serve your taste buds the way Big Chill does. So, grab your friends and head to this splendid place.

Be a proud Delhiite at Cafe Delhi Heights

Cafe Delhi heights located in DLF Place Mall, Saket is everything you desire in a place where you can dine and hang out with your family and friends. The ambiance is amazing, the food is crazy and the place reeks of typical Delhiite vibe from every corner. Being one of the high end and popular places in the entire Select City walk and DLF area, the place is always crowded especially on the weekends. So, we would strongly advise you to book the tables in advance in order to avoid being disappointed.

The average cost per person for dining in the restaurant is approximately 1000 INR.

Ambience

The place is as beautiful and lively as it gets and at the same time ideal for the family outings and romantic dates with your loved ones. The well-decorated walls contrast perfectly with the artistically illuminated interior of the place. The ancient heritage of Delhi, of which the Delhiites seem to be so proud of, can be felt pretty easily once you set your foot inside. The place gives out a happy and positive vibe that would easily make Café Delhi Heights enter your list of favorite places to eat in and around Delhi. Overall, the interiors were beautifully done and certainly a decent one to visit. The music there might captivate your soul, hence you can also call it a paradise for music lovers.

Cuisines

Delhiites are known to be ardent foodies. They know their way around food like no other people. Delhi Heights does a great justice to that aspect of the locales. The menu is diverse and there are food options ranging from the north Indian meals to the Continental, America, and Chinese, for which Delhiites are known to be super crazy.

For the breakfast, you have varied options such as Divine Doughnuts and Oatmeal and Date which would provide you with an amazing taste in your mouth along with the essential nutrients. The place is specifically famous for the delicious burgers it serves which are said to be addictive. The several different varieties of both vegetarian and nonvegetarian burgers are just finger licking. We had a really good time with the Jucy Lucy Burger for what Café Delhi Heights is mostly known for and to our surprise, it was quite large such that a single person just cannot finish it all by himself and so large so two people started binging on it. The chocolate brownie shake is an outstanding one and a must try.

Paani Puri, pepperoni pizza, whole wheat pasta and sauteed broccoli on the boat also serve an incredible experience. The bar menu is quite extensive as well some authentic imported wines and whiskeys, all the best brands you could imagine.

Delhi burger and the American hot dog are two of the most popular meals the place happens to have on their huge menu.

For the deserts we have all the usuals such as ice creams and cakes.

Highlights

The biggest crowd puller aspect of the place is the Delhi theme, but other than that, there are enough good things about the place which somehow makes it a foodie magnet.

One amazing thing about the place is that they provide a complimentary bread basket with butter and potato wedges which satisfies your hunger pangs till the food ordered arrives and the wait becomes a  becomes a lot easier and fun.

Cafe Delhi Heights is one place that every proud Delhiite must be visiting at least once to add on to their gastronomic experiences.

Bikes and great food! It doesn’t get better than this at Biker’s Cafe

The Biker’s Cafe

Over the years, the themed restaurants have been growing in number at a frantic pace in Delhi-NCR. One other highly popular addition to the list is the Biker’s Cafe, which is supposed to be sort of a dreamland for the bike enthusiasts. And entering the place once makes it pretty much justifies the christening of the place. The cafe is full of jargons only the bikers would understand, even the menu items are named after the words that avid bikers would definitely identify with.

The place is located at Golf course road in Gurgaon at MGF Emaar building and in Vasant Kunj The average cost for two people is Rs. 1250 approx including alcohol.

Ambience

The decor inside the cafe revolves around the theme of the bikers and so the place just seems like a heaven for the bikers.  Although the ladies are not a part of the‘biker community’ much often, they seem to enjoy themselves here equally well. The best thing about the place is that being situated on the Golf Course road; it’s a great hangout place for people working nearby.

With the chairs made of bike seats and suspensions plus the parts of some of the best bikes from all around the globe hanging and sitting here, there and all around the cafe, the ambience inside is quite attractive and well thought out. You may never find a place that takes the ‘theme concept’ all this seriously. Even the lights resemble the headlights of the motorcycles and sitting on the chairs in front of the tables will let you know the meaning of the term ‘A biker’s delight’.

Cuisines

Like many other themed places in the city, there is no case of ‘all style no substance’. The amount of efforts that has been put in to make the food extraordinary is there. The cafe deals with a wide variety of cuisines, ranging from the Chinese, Continental, and North Indian to the Italian food. The food items and the drinks have been named quirkily. There are some eccentric drinks with names such as The Eye Opener, The Elixir of Youth and the Muscle Soother. The menu card reeks of coolness from all over it.

There are all the different varieties of coffees and teas, a make from the best beans and tea leaves imported from the best plantations in the country.

The food items are no less than excellent with options such as hakka noodles, pizzas and burgers along with some hardcore desi meals such as Kadhai Paneer, Palak Paneer, and Dum Aloo with naan and tawa roti. The veg tandoori platter, the spinach kebabs, and the Bombay sandwich are worth a try. The blueberry smoothie can compliment your dining experience well.

As we have mentioned above, the menu is exhaustive and you need to know your way through it.

Highlights

The memorabilia of some of the best and some cool retro bikes seems to be the biggest highlight of the cafe. All day breakfast option makes it a great place to hangout with your group.

Based on the bikers theme and with Harley at their front entry, the restaurant gives you a true sportsman feel and deserves at least one visit from the ardent bike lovers.

Review – Chocovault HKV

Chocovault does justice to its name. As soon as you open its vault gates, you see chocolate dripping from the ceiling and similar chocolate contrast with chairs and tables as well. It was like a safe for all the delicious chocolate desserts.

Location:

Located amidst the Cafes in Hauz Khas Village in Delhi, it is a cozy little space that would satisfy your chocolate cravings. You can spend quality time there with your fellow chocolate lover friends.

Ambience:

This is a small cozy place around the corner and it gives off a very chocolatey vibe with its colors and interior. The dessert menu is on ipad which was cool to look at. The decor is soothing, the seating comfortable and staff very cooperative and nice.

Menu:

The menu is varied and it gives you all sorts of chocolate desserts to satisfy your cravings. For us people with a sweet tooth, ChocVault is like Willy Wonka’s factory. The menu is diversified and there are so many options to choose from. We will be visiting the place again just to check off the stuff from the menu because we wish to try them all.

Food:

We ordered a bunch of desserts like ‘The Nutella Waffle”, Chocolate Nuke, hot chocolate fudge, the chocolate ball and chocolate shake. The hot chocolate fudge was delicious and most probably the best thing we’ve ever tasted. The Nutella waffle was delicious as well though the waffle was a little soggy. The chocolate ball was like a Pokemon ball, only one we could eat and it had chocolatey goodness. The chocolate nuke could be made better and we did not enjoy the chocolate shake. They need to work on it. Among everything we tried, it was the only thing that spoiled our moods. Since we love chocolate so much, we didn’t think that anything with chocolate in it could ever not taste good until we tried that shake. With so many delicious deserts exploding flavor in our mouths, the day really couldn’t get any better.

Cost:

It costs approximately 500 INR for two people excluding taxes and services. That was the one problem we had with the place that it was fairly overpriced.

Highlights:

Do try their hot chocolate fudge and chocolate ball. Stay away from the chocolate shake till they refine it. You wouldn’t want to spend money and not get its worth.

Verdict:

ChocVault is like a dreamland for chocolate lovers. The place is cozy within other abundant cafes in Hauz Khas village but what differentiates it from the other places is its sole dedication to chocolate. Though a bit overpriced, you will want to try this place at least once for the chocolate lover inside you. It is a guilty pleasure and you can cheat on your diet plans with chocolate.

Vegetarian food joints in Hyderabad

Being a vegetarian traveler can be a problem when you cannot find good places that, do not just focus on their non-vegetarian menu. Finding good restaurants with a nice ambiance and equally delicious food is a hard job and here we have compiled a list of best vegetarian food joints in Hyderabad.

Kshetra Veg restaurant

We really like restaurants with outdoor seating. With Kshetra, you get to sit outside in greenery as you enjoy the food with cool air. The service is also quick and on Sunday nights, you get to enjoy live music. The menu is diversified and you can order anything from Biryani to Idly and Wada. But since we had heard lots about the famous Hyderabadi Biryani, that is what we chose to try. It was so delicious. We also had their Paneer Tikka and Mushroom Moti Kebab. They were flavored nicely and cooked to perfection.

Cost: Rs 750 for two people approx

Must Try: The Biryani is delicious and the quantity served for such a low price is unbelievable.

Address: Rockdale Building, Lane Next to Eenadu, Khairatabad, Hyderabad

Basil

Basil has a variety of Indian, Chinese and Continental cuisines to offer.  The live counters for Phulkas, Pasta and Dosa add to the overall ambiance of the place. It was a decently priced vegetarian Buffet and the starters were good. We tried the Soya Tikki which was yummy. You can find your typical North-Indian food here and also some varieties of Pasta. There is a dish for all kinds of people here. My only disappointment was the desert.

Cost: Rs 1100 for 2 people approx

Must Try: Masala dosa

Address: 4th Floor, Lumbini Mall Road No.2, Banjara hills, Hyderabad, Telangana 500081

Chutneys

Chutneys is a popular vegetarian restaurant in Hyderabad because of its South Indian meals. Though it serves some North Indian dishes as well, its specialty is the South Indian breakfast. The decor is great with comfy sofas. We opted for the dosa and Upma. The dosa came with 6 different dips along with sambar. Each dip had a unique and tasty flavour and the Upma was delicious as well.

Cost: Rs 800 for 2 people approx.

Must Try: Dosa

Address: 3-6-111/8 & 9, 1st Floor, Far East Plaza, Himayath Nagar, Hyderabad

Filmy Tadka

Filmy tadka had a filmy ambiance with its bright and vibrant colors. We ordered the Natural soup and then Cheese and Spinach cigars for starters. The soup was decent but the starters very really yummy. For the main course, we had butter nan which was fresh and soft with Paneer ragada masala. It turned out just as good as it looked. For drinks, they had Mint Mojito and Fruit punch but we didn’t like either of them.

Cost: Rs 850 for 2 people approx

Must try: Cheese and Spinach Cigars

Address: Opposite to Reliance Fresh, Shivam Road, Amberpet, Hyderabad

Jivati organic restaurant

Along with being a pure vegetarian restaurant, it serves organic food with no artificial additives. The interior of the place is quite spacious and the lighting is soothing. The ambiance is quite cool and nice. The Papads that they serve are quite different and a must-try. We tried their North Indian and East Indian thali. The North Indian thali had Achari paneer which was my favorite along with Dal makhani and Gulab Jamun as dessert. The East Indian Thali had Sweet Pulav, Baingan ka Bharta, Aloo Posto which was equally delicious.

Cost: Rs 1100 for 2 people approx

Must try: North Indian Thali

Address: 1st Floor, Plot 1100, Road 36, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad

If you are ever in Hyderabad and pondering over where to eat, do try out these places for an incredible foodie experience.
