Bikes and great food! It doesn’t get better than this at Biker’s Cafe

The Biker’s Cafe

Over the years, the themed restaurants have been growing in number at a frantic pace in Delhi-NCR. One other highly popular addition to the list is the Biker’s Cafe, which is supposed to be sort of a dreamland for the bike enthusiasts. And entering the place once makes it pretty much justifies the christening of the place. The cafe is full of jargons only the bikers would understand, even the menu items are named after the words that avid bikers would definitely identify with.

The place is located at Golf course road in Gurgaon at MGF Emaar building and in Vasant Kunj The average cost for two people is Rs. 1250 approx including alcohol.

Ambience

The decor inside the cafe revolves around the theme of the bikers and so the place just seems like a heaven for the bikers.  Although the ladies are not a part of the‘biker community’ much often, they seem to enjoy themselves here equally well. The best thing about the place is that being situated on the Golf Course road; it’s a great hangout place for people working nearby.

With the chairs made of bike seats and suspensions plus the parts of some of the best bikes from all around the globe hanging and sitting here, there and all around the cafe, the ambience inside is quite attractive and well thought out. You may never find a place that takes the ‘theme concept’ all this seriously. Even the lights resemble the headlights of the motorcycles and sitting on the chairs in front of the tables will let you know the meaning of the term ‘A biker’s delight’.

Cuisines

Like many other themed places in the city, there is no case of ‘all style no substance’. The amount of efforts that has been put in to make the food extraordinary is there. The cafe deals with a wide variety of cuisines, ranging from the Chinese, Continental, and North Indian to the Italian food. The food items and the drinks have been named quirkily. There are some eccentric drinks with names such as The Eye Opener, The Elixir of Youth and the Muscle Soother. The menu card reeks of coolness from all over it.

There are all the different varieties of coffees and teas, a make from the best beans and tea leaves imported from the best plantations in the country.

The food items are no less than excellent with options such as hakka noodles, pizzas and burgers along with some hardcore desi meals such as Kadhai Paneer, Palak Paneer, and Dum Aloo with naan and tawa roti. The veg tandoori platter, the spinach kebabs, and the Bombay sandwich are worth a try. The blueberry smoothie can compliment your dining experience well.

As we have mentioned above, the menu is exhaustive and you need to know your way through it.

Highlights

The memorabilia of some of the best and some cool retro bikes seems to be the biggest highlight of the cafe. All day breakfast option makes it a great place to hangout with your group.

Based on the bikers theme and with Harley at their front entry, the restaurant gives you a true sportsman feel and deserves at least one visit from the ardent bike lovers.

Review – Chocovault HKV

Chocovault does justice to its name. As soon as you open its vault gates, you see chocolate dripping from the ceiling and similar chocolate contrast with chairs and tables as well. It was like a safe for all the delicious chocolate desserts.

Location:

Located amidst the Cafes in Hauz Khas Village in Delhi, it is a cozy little space that would satisfy your chocolate cravings. You can spend quality time there with your fellow chocolate lover friends.

Ambience:

This is a small cozy place around the corner and it gives off a very chocolatey vibe with its colors and interior. The dessert menu is on ipad which was cool to look at. The decor is soothing, the seating comfortable and staff very cooperative and nice.

Menu:

The menu is varied and it gives you all sorts of chocolate desserts to satisfy your cravings. For us people with a sweet tooth, ChocVault is like Willy Wonka’s factory. The menu is diversified and there are so many options to choose from. We will be visiting the place again just to check off the stuff from the menu because we wish to try them all.

Food:

We ordered a bunch of desserts like ‘The Nutella Waffle”, Chocolate Nuke, hot chocolate fudge, the chocolate ball and chocolate shake. The hot chocolate fudge was delicious and most probably the best thing we’ve ever tasted. The Nutella waffle was delicious as well though the waffle was a little soggy. The chocolate ball was like a Pokemon ball, only one we could eat and it had chocolatey goodness. The chocolate nuke could be made better and we did not enjoy the chocolate shake. They need to work on it. Among everything we tried, it was the only thing that spoiled our moods. Since we love chocolate so much, we didn’t think that anything with chocolate in it could ever not taste good until we tried that shake. With so many delicious deserts exploding flavor in our mouths, the day really couldn’t get any better.

Cost:

It costs approximately 500 INR for two people excluding taxes and services. That was the one problem we had with the place that it was fairly overpriced.

Highlights:

Do try their hot chocolate fudge and chocolate ball. Stay away from the chocolate shake till they refine it. You wouldn’t want to spend money and not get its worth.

Verdict:

ChocVault is like a dreamland for chocolate lovers. The place is cozy within other abundant cafes in Hauz Khas village but what differentiates it from the other places is its sole dedication to chocolate. Though a bit overpriced, you will want to try this place at least once for the chocolate lover inside you. It is a guilty pleasure and you can cheat on your diet plans with chocolate.

The mythological celebration that is Varanasi

Hinduism happens to be the most dominant of all the religions in the country, and Varanasi is the holiest of the holy spots for them. It has been there for thousands of years as the centre of holistic and religious practices, Varanasi is located in the North Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. A bus ride from Lucknow will take you here in a few hours of time, and you won’t even have enough time to pump yourself up for the great marvel of a city that you are going to witness.

The hot humid weather welcomes in the months of May-September which are deemed as the best for a visit to the place. As you set foot out of the bus into this wild dream of a city, you know you are in for something very beautiful and an engaging experience which you will take with you to your graves, no one can take that from you. The chaos in the city was exhilarating yet annoying. The economic conditions in the place are not among the best in the country, but beneath that mindless chaos, there is a soul in Varanasi that lies deeper. It touches on the places inside that you didn’t know existed.

The lifeline of the city is the Ganges, the holy river. That works as a two-edged sword, the excuse for the people in here to feel superior to rest of the country and it also provides them their means of living. Let’s explore the things about this enigmatic city that you may visit as you go in there to have an experience.

The Ghats- The highlights of the city, its lifeline for which Varanasi holds a special place among the Indians. Hindus believe that taking their last breaths on one of these ghats is the only medium of achieving true salvation from the cycles of life and death. Located along the banks of the river and spread through the entire city, these Ghats have become synonymous with the city.

Religious centers- Being a religious place, Varanasi has a lot of temples, mosques and other religious monuments within it. Some of the most mentionable temples are Gauri Matha temple, Durga temple, Kaal Bhairav temple, Nepali Hindu temple, Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple and the Sankat mochan temple.

Chunar fort- Known as the oldest structure of its kind, the fort got built about 2000 years ago. This is a wonderful place for the ones who wants to explore the city beyond its religious nature.

Ghats – Look out for different ghats which come in the way across the holy river. Each of these ghats holds an own special place in the religious geography of the city. Visit Ganges River Varanasi to experience the Aarti Ceremony at Dashaswmedh Ghat. The Aarti Ceremony starts after sunset & the duration in the aarti ceremony is 45 minutes approx.

Boat Rides- The boat rides that take place in the sunset or the sunrise are eccentrically beautiful. Listen to the guide who will row the boat (in case it isn’t a motorboat though) as he tells you some wonderful legends about the place.

Shopping in Varanasi is a totally exhilarating experience in itself and Banarasi silk sarees form a crucial part of an Indian bride’s collection. Varanasi offers richly worked saris are known to have passed on from generations to generations.

To satisfy the hunger pangs, one can visit the Dosa Café located at Dasaswamedh Ghat. The special upma, and the variety of dosa’s are delicious. Niyati Café in Varanasi has fewer tables but once the food arrives, you’ll live it and relish every bite. You can try its potato curries, palak paneer and naan to please the foodie in you.

Sarnath located in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh is 10 kms away from the holy city of Varanasi. Sarnath has been a world famous Buddhist site in Varanasi and is embedded with many Stupas worth visiting. The most pleasant time to visit the Sarnath temple is during October to March.

The most important Hindu Pilgrimage in the entire country, Varanasi is also a tourist’s delight, whether they are religious or not.

Beaches Rejoice Western India

Zuari river, Goa

After going to so many beaches in Goa, while we were driving from North Goa to South goa, we reached a bridge. The bridge gave such a picturesque view of the Zuari river. The river with its yellow hue (because of the silt), looked spectacular. It was a panoramic view so we decided to make a pit stop near the river. We spent some time on the beach looking at the landscape and the greenery that surrounded the river. Then we decided to take a boat trip.

The boat trip is a must for anyone who visits Zuari River as you get to experience the beauty of the river first hand up close and not from a distance. It is also apt for bird watching and we got close to many birds and were able to take pictures as well. The river is so calm and serene that it soothes your soul and as you see the sunlight reflecting on the water’s surface it is like millions of tiny diamonds are floating on the river.

A guided tour takes you to the mangroves for watching birds. Kamat is the man if you wish to find a tour guide. He runs a place called ‘Crocodile Station’. We saw 6 species of Kingfisher alone. We also saw Greater Crested Earnns and other species of birds that stood on the wooden stumps as we watched and clicked pictures. Also, the river is popular as a habitat for crocodiles and we spotted four of them while we were there. It was also a very strangely exciting incident. We could also see the Portuguese churches on the hills along the river side. The reflection of those trees and hills on the river made for a great view as well. There were some local fishermen with their canoes as well. Little fishes jumped around the boat making the experience very light and joyful. Then we saw a bunch of flying foxes bats hanging from a tree and though it scared us a little bit, the bats were inactive and were not bothered by anything. One can easily spend a few hours here looking at such diverse bird species and just enjoying the calmness of the river.

There is also a sunset point from where you can see as the sun sets and the horizon it forms as if it is dipping into the river itself. That is the best time to visit the river. Since not many tourists know about this spot, it is not very crowded but a charming place nonetheless.

As we drove along the road on the Zuari river, that is also an image that got framed into our minds. It is such a beautiful view that one cannot forget it Zuari river is not exactly a tourist attraction but can be good for a pit stop while you are on a road trip. It is such a natural thing of beauty and the high and low tides bring new changes in the river making it look rejuvenated. We found a local seafood restaurant nearby and sat down to try some fresh and delicious seafood. The prawns were just delicious.

We highly suggest travelers visit this place when you are in Goa. You can have a fun time on the bridge or go on the boat safari or do little birding.

Sultanpur Sanctuary- Bird watcher paradise

This National park that is at a distance of 15 km from Gurgaon is not only a sanctuary of birds where birds migrate from all over the world but also a famous picnic spot. We went to Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary during winter months and stayed at the guest house there only. The tourist complex is splendid with a restaurant and bar. The bar is well stocked and the restaurant serves quality food.  We arrived there by road from Delhi (which is 50 km away) on Wednesday which is good because the place is closed every Tuesday and moreover, a permit is required to enter the place before 7 am.

Anyway, the officials told us that it was a good time to visit as the birds migrate to the sanctuary during winter months and thus we got to see a diversity of bird species. I gave in to my passion for bird photography and we did lots of bird watching with our binoculars in hand and our head-turning everywhere, not knowing where to see because it was all so beautiful. With a tiny fee of Rs 5, it is such an astonishing place to visit. Be sure to carry your identity card with you when you visit because you will be denied entry otherwise. There were adequate parking facilities, drinking-water facilities and bathroom facilities making it a place with ease.

There are more than 250 bird species that have been identified there and if you keep a bird book with you, you will be able to identify some of the birds. We were lucky enough to see a spot-billed duck, painted stork, white ibis,  common hoopoe, paddy field pipit, purple, grey francolin, black francolin, Indian roller, white-throated kingfisher, black-headed ibis, little egret, great egret, cattle egret, India crested lark sunbird, little cormorant and Eurasian thick-knee. Within the vicinity of tall and green trees, bougainvilleas and shrubs were these beautiful creatures. We were glad for those binoculars as they helped in letting us enjoy the scene without disturbing the peace of the place. It is also a place for a good trek. Beginners can practice with the easy terrain while also experiencing the scenic panoramic views.

It is a picturesque view as the birds settle around the sanctuary with all their flamboyant, visually pleasing colors and gorgeous wings and sounds. This is what bird-watcher paradise looks like. We had a small picnic there among those birds. We went up to the watch tower to see the sanctuary in its full glory. To be honest, the view from there was breathtaking. The whole place is spectacular. There was also a library, films and an education center for benefit of tourists. It indeed turned out to be very informative and we walked out with more knowledge than we had before.

We saw some children playing within the reserve as there is a special park for them. Also, we saw old write-ups, personal belongings, and photographs by Dr Salim Ali as there is a whole room dedicated to him in the reserve.

The park timings are 7:00 am to 4:30 pm but I do not think that even that is enough time to fully absorb and appreciate the beauty of this magnificent National Park. By the time we left, there were unforgettable memories imprinted in our minds. We felt like explorers in a jungle reveling in the sheer natural charm of this National park. You can visit the park with your family, friends or even alone as it is one place that will leave you flabbergasted.

Kerala is known as “God’s own country” but apart from beautiful beaches and backwaters, it also has a wide variety of wildlife. A large area of Kerala is given to National Parks and wildlife sanctuaries for the preservation of biodiversity. Here are some of the National Parks in Kerala:

Eravikulam National Park

It is the oldest National park of Kerala. It is located along the Western Ghats in Idukki district. The highest peak in South India aka Anamudi is also located inside the park. Moreover, it has the largest population of Nilgiri Tahr. The park can be reached from Kochi or Coimbatore Airport or from Munnar town which is just 13 km away. Inside the part, there are motorable roads or you can walk on foot enjoying the scenic views.

Periyar National Park

It is the largest National Park in Kerala. It lies in the district of Pathanamthitta and Idukki. It is most popular for its tiger and elephant reserve and there are also White tigers present here. Periyar National park is as rich in scenic charm as it is in biodiversity. From the forests of this National Park, Periyar and Pamba rivers originate which are delightful visions. You can reach the park by Air from Kochi or Madurai airports or by rail. The nearest railhead is Kottayam and by road, Kumily is the nearest town. Instead of your usual boat cruise, go on a trek with some tribals and fill your eyes with the splendid hills and jungles.

Silent Valley National Park

It is Kerala’s second largest national park. It lies within the Palakkad district in the Nilgiri Hills. An endangered species of primate i.e. lion-tailed macaques is found here. The National Park was named Silent Valley by the British because noisy cicadas were assumed to absent here making this the perfect place of silence and harmony. The nearest railway station is Palakkad. From there, reach Mukkali which is 60 km away and can be reached through bus. From Mukkali, you can hire jeeps to move around. You can see the Kunti river and go at the watchtower that looks over the jungle.

Mathikettan Shola National Park

The name ‘Mathikettan’ itself means mind confused in Tamil. They say that one forgets his path after entering the park. The park is spread over 12.82 km2 in Poopara village of Udumbanchola Taluk. Visitors can approach Mathikettan Shola via Munnar and Cochin International Airport is the nearest airport. The area has unique flora and fauna. Pampadum Shola National park

It is the smallest National Park of Kerala. The name itself means ‘the forest where snakes dance’. The park contains various types of medicinal herbs and is rich in uncontaminated ‘humus’.  The key species of this National park is Nilgiri marten. Nature lovers are especially drawn to Kerala because of its beautiful forests and greenery.

Vegetarian food joints in Hyderabad

Being a vegetarian traveler can be a problem when you cannot find good places that, do not just focus on their non-vegetarian menu. Finding good restaurants with a nice ambiance and equally delicious food is a hard job and here we have compiled a list of best vegetarian food joints in Hyderabad.

Kshetra Veg restaurant

We really like restaurants with outdoor seating. With Kshetra, you get to sit outside in greenery as you enjoy the food with cool air. The service is also quick and on Sunday nights, you get to enjoy live music. The menu is diversified and you can order anything from Biryani to Idly and Wada. But since we had heard lots about the famous Hyderabadi Biryani, that is what we chose to try. It was so delicious. We also had their Paneer Tikka and Mushroom Moti Kebab. They were flavored nicely and cooked to perfection.

Cost: Rs 750 for two people approx

Must Try: The Biryani is delicious and the quantity served for such a low price is unbelievable.

Address: Rockdale Building, Lane Next to Eenadu, Khairatabad, Hyderabad

Basil

Basil has a variety of Indian, Chinese and Continental cuisines to offer.  The live counters for Phulkas, Pasta and Dosa add to the overall ambiance of the place. It was a decently priced vegetarian Buffet and the starters were good. We tried the Soya Tikki which was yummy. You can find your typical North-Indian food here and also some varieties of Pasta. There is a dish for all kinds of people here. My only disappointment was the desert.

Cost: Rs 1100 for 2 people approx

Must Try: Masala dosa

Address: 4th Floor, Lumbini Mall Road No.2, Banjara hills, Hyderabad, Telangana 500081

Chutneys

Chutneys is a popular vegetarian restaurant in Hyderabad because of its South Indian meals. Though it serves some North Indian dishes as well, its specialty is the South Indian breakfast. The decor is great with comfy sofas. We opted for the dosa and Upma. The dosa came with 6 different dips along with sambar. Each dip had a unique and tasty flavour and the Upma was delicious as well.

Cost: Rs 800 for 2 people approx.

Must Try: Dosa

Address: 3-6-111/8 & 9, 1st Floor, Far East Plaza, Himayath Nagar, Hyderabad

Filmy Tadka

Filmy tadka had a filmy ambiance with its bright and vibrant colors. We ordered the Natural soup and then Cheese and Spinach cigars for starters. The soup was decent but the starters very really yummy. For the main course, we had butter nan which was fresh and soft with Paneer ragada masala. It turned out just as good as it looked. For drinks, they had Mint Mojito and Fruit punch but we didn’t like either of them.

Cost: Rs 850 for 2 people approx

Must try: Cheese and Spinach Cigars

Address: Opposite to Reliance Fresh, Shivam Road, Amberpet, Hyderabad

Jivati organic restaurant

Along with being a pure vegetarian restaurant, it serves organic food with no artificial additives. The interior of the place is quite spacious and the lighting is soothing. The ambiance is quite cool and nice. The Papads that they serve are quite different and a must-try. We tried their North Indian and East Indian thali. The North Indian thali had Achari paneer which was my favorite along with Dal makhani and Gulab Jamun as dessert. The East Indian Thali had Sweet Pulav, Baingan ka Bharta, Aloo Posto which was equally delicious.

Cost: Rs 1100 for 2 people approx

Must try: North Indian Thali

Address: 1st Floor, Plot 1100, Road 36, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad

If you are ever in Hyderabad and pondering over where to eat, do try out these places for an incredible foodie experience.
