Located right in the centre of the country, Madhya Pradesh is quite an enigmatic state. Be it the religious places, places to eat or to grasp in the natural beauty, the place tends to offer everything to everyone. This is one of those places that never disappoint the tourists. One of the highest populated and largest Indian states, Madhya Pradesh, also known as MP is a tourist’s paradise. The people here are nice and the language that is spoken by the largest chunk of the population is Hindi, so there must be no trouble in communicating with the locals. The 5-day tour may not be enough to grasp the entire beauty of the place but enough to get most out of it. So, here is how a we divided our first ever trip to Madhya Pradesh.

Day 1

The first day starts with the arrival in the beautiful and historical city of Gwalior. The city reeks of royal splendor through every corner and there so many remains of the bygone era that will remind you about the glorious history the place once had. Rest for a while and then get out of the hotel in order to witness some monuments such as the Gwalior fort, Jai Vilas Palace and the museum. The remaining part of the day will be spent on the things you like. You could find a place to eat or a park to sit down and relax.

Day 2

Second day, we started early and reached Orccha and loved the famous temples there. Sunrise and sunsets are not to be missed.

Day 3

Day 3 was planned for the famous Khajuraho, where you can get a glimpse in the lives of ancient Indians and how they lived and survived in those deadly circumstances. Bhedaghat is a town and a nagar panchayat in Jabalpur district in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India, situated by the side of river Narmada which has all the essentials to spellbind you. The place is famed for its splendid marble artefacts. As dusk descends, these marbles seem to glitter in the moonlight which is no less than a blessing to watch.

At Bhedaghat, you should visit the picturesque and spectacular Dhuandhar which is a famous attraction at Bhedaghat, 30 km away from Jabalpur. The white water knocks down to form a gorge known as the Marble Rocks. Localities visit this place as a popular picnic spot and it is also a popular destination surrounded by evergreen trees and shrubs.

Day 4

The lush greenery of the forested regions that are incredibly the natural home for a variant of wild species..that is what all Bandhavgarh National Park is about. A magnificent trip to Bandhavgarh will let you catch the amazing glimpses of the majestic creatures which is a simply incredible sight. With safari options in Bandhavgarh, you can enjoy your trip in a very organized way

Day 5

This was the last stop of our itinerary, and we planned to spend in the beautiful hills of Pachmarhi.

MP is one of the largest states in the country geographically and it may take months to completely understand everything the state has to offer. It still remains one of the golden crowns in the India historical and religious scenario. This is one state

An enchanting road trip to Leh!!

Last year, in Sep 2016, we #ghoomophirosisters went on a road trip to Leh, and it was one hell of the experience for us.The Leh-Ladakh road trip was on our #bucketlist for long and finally we made it.  Finally, I’m chronicling my road trip adventure for CEAT Tyres in association with BlogAdda in this blog post. This Blog-Post not only describes the detailed itinerary that one should follow while planning for Leh-Ladakh but also talks about the quick checklist while driving on the uneven, rough terrain of Ladakh region.Since we had fewer days in hand, we flew to Leh, and rented the bike from there.

Itinerary

Day 1 : We landed at Leh around 7Am, and went to our hotel at LaBudha. Loved the hospitality of hotel staff. They ensure we acclimatize to the altitude well and offered honey ginger tea. Several tips like taking Diamox tab, monitoring oxygen levels etc. Took rest in the hotel itself and kept drinking lots of water. The food was good at the hotel. Keep monitoring your Oxygen levels. In the evening, we went to the bike-shops and rented the bike. before renting the bike, we ensured that bike is up and running and is flawless. Obviously, there were CEAT Tyres to be our partners in crime in our dream road trip.

Day 2 – Next morning, all geared up, we headed towards Nubra valley via Khardungla. Khardungla is the highest motorable pass road of the world. Plz make sure, not to stay there for long due to high altitude. While on the way, you will cross Hunder, do not miss to take the ride on double humped camels. We stayed in camps in Nubra.

Day 3 – Plan was to drive back to Leh via the same route. However, we also stopped for Dikshit Monastery and the majestic Maitreyi Buddha.

Day 4 – Next morning, we drove from Leh to the most talked about Pangong Tso Lake is popularly known as 3 Idiots lake.On the way back, we did stop for the quick look at Hemis Monastery. Stayed overnight in Pangong in a homestay. Evenings are really cold, so make sure you are wearing sufficient layers.

Day 5 –  By this time, we were little exhausted, and drove back to Leh. Our stop over was Thicksey Monastery. We reached on time at Leh and were so acclimatized that Leh felt like home to us.

Day 6- This was supposed to be our last day at Leh, so we utilized time for local sight-seeing like Shanti Stupas, Market.

Day 7- And finally we bid goodbye to Leh with a promise to come back again and drove back to Manali. Btw, one can rent a bike in Leh and drop them at Manali.

Do’s and Don’ts for your self-drive

Don’t be overconfident

You might have been a veteran biker, but don’t underestimate the terrains here. Even the smoothest and simplest of roads can hurt your vehicle badly and force you to be in the midst of nowhere. Hence, avoid taking unnecessary risks

Don’t Rush and Be Patient

While driving, the lot of endurance and patience is required. Don’t rush. Instead whenever in doubt, take a step back and analyze the terrain, to plan your ride further. CEAT Tyres really proved to be the boon for us during our drive and thankfully we did not land up in any tricky situations.

Knowledge of your vehicle

It is very important to be well acquainted of your vehicle, as you shall be the one fixing it on the way.

No Drinking and Driving

Drink and Drive is a clear No, while on the high altitudes as alcohol may not be completely digested and may lead to AMS or you being collapsed while driving.

Be Helpful

Always extend a helping hand to the people in need while on the way. You may find army men, fellow bikers who are stuck. Be kind to them

Must Have’s

Do not miss to carry following things while on self drive.

  • Basic Toolkit including Jack and Spanner
  • Air Compressor and Foot pump
  • Hydraulic Jack
  • Puncture Repair Kit
  • Screwdriver Set
  • Torchlight
  • Jump Start Cables
  • Tow Away Rope approx. 3-6 ton Capacity
  • 1-2 Jerry Cans / Coke Bottles to carry spare fuel
  • Funnel
  • Spare Coolant and Engine Oil
  • A Long Stick/Rod
  • A Shovel and a Hammer
  • Elfy
  • Drinking Water and Snacks/Dry Fruits

I hope this checklist helps you in your upcoming trip to Leh. Last but not least, do not miss the chance to follow the amazing signs that Border Roads Organisation has put up for our safety. Enjoy the safe trip to this one life time place.

From locating religious shrines and ancient monuments to relishing lip-smacking street food and exploring indigenous textiles, you can make the most of a 24 hours-long visit to the city. Not to miss, place is also known to groom best B-school graduates from India.

With merely a day in hand, a Heritage Walk is probably the best commencement to the city’s tour. You have to decide between two options- Ahmedabad’s Municipal Corporation conducts a morning walk which starts at 8:00 and takes you to numerous important Havelis, temples and heritage sites before concluding at the Jama Masjid in the city centre and its alternative, the House of MG provides an 80-minutes-long walk, which you can undertake with a pre- recorded audio guide

The next destination for the day can be the Calico Museum of Textiles in the Shahibaug area. It boasts of one of the world’s supreme collections of archaic as well as contemporary Indian textiles, that are all handmade and at most 500 years old. There are some exceptionally beautiful pieces like Kashmiri shawls whose making took 3 years and double-ikat cloths, 1,00,000 threads of which were dyed separately before weaving. The prime textile galleries can only be visited during the morning tour by a maximum of 20 people, which lasts for 2 hours and the afternoon tour which is for a maximum of 10 people is dedicated to Sarabhai Foundation’s religious art collection. Therefore, advance booking is required.

The next destination is best described by its name- Talli Ahmedabad which means ‘intoxicated Ahmedabad’ in English. This eatery claims to infuse their dishes with a degree of lusciousness that will leave you in a trance. In tandem with its bold and brazen name, the dishes are titled creatively. Worth every penny, this is an amazing option for some quick and delicious food.

Located in close proximity to Ahmedabad’s railway station, the Shaking minarets of the Sidi Bashir Mosque can be the next place in the 24 hours- the itinerary of Ahmedabad. The minarets got their name because of the fact that they literally shake because if one of them is touched, the other trembles after a few seconds! Each of them is about 70 metres high and has carved stone balconies. You can explore the rest of the Sidi Bashir Mosque also, while you are here.

The succeeding area of visit-The Law Garden Night Market– is an evening market which remains jam packed with kiosks selling glittery articles from Saurashtra and Kutch. Costume jewellery embroidered wall hangings, Gujarati cholis and extravagantly decorated chaniyas sold here will leave you awestruck. Even if you end up buying nothing, this is an experience exclusive to Ahmedabad which is definitely not to be missed.

Furnished to represent the culture and lifestyle of Indian villages, Rajwadu is the spot to go for genuine Gujarati cuisine and is thereby the concluding place in our 1 day Ahmedabad itinerary. Established in 1998 with the aim providing natives with a flavour of their own culture, this restaurant has grown to become extremely famous since then. This monastery is the 2nd largest in Asia & largest in Asia, and one of the oldest monasteries as well. It is also known as Golden Namgyal Lhatse . The story behind the monastery is interesting. It is believed that Merak Lama Lodre Gyatso, could not find a suitable place for monastery, so he decided to pray for guidance. When he opened his eyes, he found his horse was on the top of hill, where present day monastery is there. It is the main venue of Torgva festival. Several manuscripts, religious books can be found in the place.

Gorichen Peak

Located at a distance of 160 Kms of Tawang, this peak has religious sentiments attached to it. It is also known as Sa-Nga Phu, which literally means the Kingdom of Deity, and is assumed that it protects the place from evils. Place is hikers’ paradise. Stroll around the lake is indeed soulful and enticing.

Nuranang Waterfalls

Located 40 Kms away from Tawang, this is another spectacular waterfall, which you will not like to miss. Pankang Teng Tso Lake

Surrounded by the Himalayas, Pankang Teng Tso Lake, also called as Ptso Lake is situated 17 km from Tawang. It’s all about the nature that speaks at the lake. It is frozen almost half of the year and is good ground for skiing. Calm water, moving clouds, grazing animals, all look like scenery which can be painted only in mind. Place is highly recommended for all nature shooters.

Jaswant Garh

Built in the memory of Paramvir Chakra recipient Jaswant Singh, it is a must visit place. It is believed, he still protects the Indo-China border. Apparently, he fought for 72 hrs alone during Indo-China war in 1962 and is duly respected within Indian and Chinese army fraternity.
