The cravings of mad foodies, for authentic Mughlai and North Indian Food, are best satiated at Dum Pukht located inside ITC Maurya at Sardar Patel Marg, Chanakyapuri. The restaurant serves you the real authentic taste from the Awadh region of India and curates the lost authentic cooking styles. It has hired some of the best chefs in the country to prepare the food who actually cook the dishes on slow fire and serve you with excellent aroma and taste.

The restaurant looks like one of the high-end expensive places where big corporate and political meets take place but as it happens to be the case, the place serves the commoners also quite well.

The average cost is Rs 4000 INR (approx) for two people but you won’t regret spending it, as the place is an absolute delight.

The restaurant gives out the vibe of being in a Royal Mogul court. Extensive detailing has been done to the walls, the ceilings, and the tables in order to make the guests feel like the royal and more or less, they are successful in doing so. The lovely and amazing crockery does its best to upgrade the decor. The concept of blue colored glasses for the vegetarians and green colored for nonvegetarians portrays a unique idea to serve the guests. This also lends a true idea to the staff to whom to serve veg and nonveg!!

On the top of that, the lighting settings inside the restaurant are done skilfully. The place provides a great environment for the official meetings, family gatherings, and love dates to take place. A mild instrumental music being played in the background and luxurious treatment add a royal feel to the whole experience.

As mentioned above, the restaurant serves primarily the Mughlai meals along with Biryani and the North Indian meals. The menu is quite extensive and you will have almost every best nonvegetarian dish you can imagine. Out of all the meals, Dudiya Kabab, a Dum Pukht special takes the cake to be the most delicious meal of all along with Kham Khatai. Murgh Chandi tikka, to the delight of the nonvegetarians, will serve their taste buds quite majestically. Habibia chops and Jhinga Dum Nisha also deserve an honorable mention.

Out of the assorted bread options, Warqi Paratha and Naan-e-bah khummach are worth mentioning. Do try the Subz Biryani which is the best part of the whole meal carrying subtle fragrance and flavor of each ingredient. While for the desserts, the place has options in the form of Kulfi and icecreams along. Do try the royal shahi tukda topped with gold leaf and pistachios in the dessert option.

Known For

Overall, the place is known for its royal ambiance and delicious Mughlai cuisine. The restaurant had also received the “Times Food Award 2015” for Culinary Heritage.

All in all, the whole experience will be worth every penny. And yes, you can also pick some meetha paan and mogra gajra while leaving the restaurant which ends well the pleasant dining experience. Undoubtedly, it is one of the most desired fine dining destinations for Delhiites and their foodie companions.
