Sri Lanka imposes travel restrictions

sSri Lanka makes it clear to all the airlines regarding the 14-day restriction on the number of visitors that can travel by air and visit the country in the midst of the pandemic.
On Sunday, Sri Lanka formulated travel limitations on the number of passengers travelling by air and entering the country for a couple of weeks due to the pandemic.
Colombo Page reported that, the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka stated, “It has been decided to limit the number of passengers that can arrive from one flight to 75.’
Such a restriction shall come into force from Monday, May 3 morning for a time span of a couple of weeks. As per the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), each and every airline is quite aware of such a limitation.
The CAA is of the opinion that after a period of two weeks, the situation shall be examined and on that basis further decision is to be taken, whether to discontinue the restriction or go forward with it.
As per the ongoing regulation, only 75 Sri Lankans along with additional foreigners are permitted to fly in an aircraft.
According to the Colombo Page, the total number of commuters on the aircraft has been restricted to 75, due to the ongoing current scenario.
In the meantime, on Sunday, Sri Lanka witnessed the highest number of positive cases for the seventh consecutive day. In the last 24 hours, more than 18,000 people are detected Covid positive, thus, taking the total number of active cases to 111,753, according to Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry.
