Managed and owned by Jungle Camp India, this fantabulous camp resort is spread over 40 acres of reforested lands and links to the buffer (core) jungle zone for direct wildlife encounters.

Kanha Jungle Camp offers complete privacy and inclusivity to guests arriving here. It is also a pet-friendly resort, so you won’t have to leave your furry babies back home. Finely adorned rooms, an on-site ecological park, and viewing access to the rich flora and fauna of the region make it an incredible property. 

The Indigenous vibes of this forest resort further raised our excitement levels when witnessing the jungle safaris here. We Ghoomoohirosisters spotted the perfect amalgamation of a comfortable stay amidst nature at this place. It was like a dream come true for us, indeed!

Right from the moment we stepped into Kanha National Park, the wilderness around us engrossed us, and we eagerly waited for a face-off with the fierce residents. Kudos to the efforts of the Jungle camps, who acquired 40 acres of land here and transformed it into an abode of sal forests. 

While enquiring with the courteous service staff here, we got to know that the Kanha Jungle Camp beholds 17 cottages, a restaurant, a villa, and even a spa or swimming pool to rejuvenate yourselves. 

The huge kitchen garden here, ponds, parks, and scenic trails around make you feel like you are living amidst nature’s bounty. After we checked in and just sat in peace for a while with a cup of tea, it was then we knew how magical it is to spend time in jungle resorts and disconnect from the outer world for a while. 

It was our third jungle resort expedition, but the excitement of exploring the wild was still the same as the first time!

What Stay Options to Expect at the Kanha Jungle Camp?

There were four types of luxury cottages at the camp resort, and big groups can also book a villa consisting of three bedrooms. We Ghoomophirosisters opted for the premium cottage, offering uninterrupted jungle views and a private deck to observe the close movements of flora and fauna. Guess what—you can even get views from the washrooms! Isn’t that amazing?

Our cottage has a huge space of over 600 Sq.ft., along with an en-suite washroom and a sit-out balcony. All rooms here are temperature-controlled to make you feel comfy in any weather, and there are essential in-room facilities like a tea or coffee maker, toiletries, and other things. 

Every cottage comprises stunning artworks on walls depicting the tribal culture and lifestyle in India. It was interesting to take a slow walk across the property and notice the fine intricacies of architecture here. 

Food Time at Kanha Jungle Camp

We Ghoomophirosisters truly loved the authentic food flavours served at the in-house restaurant situated next to its reception area. The wide variety of food items, including rice, dal, a choice of mixed vegetables, salad assortments, curries, and even a few non-veg cuisines, makes it a viable option for everyone. 

Guests coming for special occasions or with their kids can also ask the restaurant staff for specific food items, and they can assist with the same. We were feeling acidic due to the continuous journey of several hours, so we asked them for refreshing beverages, which they helped us with. 

Host of Things to Do at Kanha Jungle Camp- Make Memories!

Bush Dinner

Couples and families arriving here also preferred eating their meals in the wild below the open skies, and the cam staff made arrangements for it. You can choose a perfect spot for stargazing, have a simple meal with your beloved spouse, and chat for hours to strengthen your bond. 

We Ghoomophirosisters had a bush dinner here at the side spot inside the resort, which was lit all over by traditional lanterns. There was pin-drop silence around. What an evening it was when we recalled our childhood memories and those silly fights! Do not miss bush dinner when you’re here. 

Safari Drives

Jungle Safari is an obvious main motive for visiting the Kanha Jungle Camp, and the team here is spontaneous in making arrangements for their guests. Their professional team of Jungle guides and naturalists can plan the complete Safari trip from pick to drop for a hassle-free experience!

We advise you to request a naturalist guide instead of a government guide for a better experience on the tour to Kanha National Park. Many guests also pre-book the safari online for a seamless experience.

One thing we Ghoomophirosisters want to convey to our readers is that Forest climates are very different from city ones and can change at any moment. So, it is recommended to carry a few essentials, such as a scarf, jacket, woollen scarf, hat, and sunglasses. Keep them handy while heading for the safari or bicycle tour. 

Tour to Nearby Villages

Curb your curiosity to explore the local culture and customs with a day tour of the village in Kanha National Park. The village is located in the buffer area of this National reserve, and travelling here can take you to an entirely different world. 

What we liked about the Kanha Jungle Camp was its efforts to preserve the culture and way of life of the Gond tribe. It was inspiring to watch them work so hard to gather crops for food, make arts and crafts to sell outside for a living, and build their own houses. Life is really tough for them. We recommend you visit the Bhima village here on your next trip to Kanha and get familiar with their lifestyle. 

Baiga Tribal Dance at Kanha Camp Resort

We Ghoomophirosisters witnessed the wonderful dance performance of the Baigas here at Kanha Jungle camp. Vibrant costumes, eclectic energy levels and the perfect sync of hand and foot moves of their troops were mind-boggling. 

Despite their heavily adorned costumes, bulky jewellery, and huge headgear, they were dancing in great flow, which shows their level of dedication to the art. For the first time, we saw men playing a wooden instrument known as ‘Thiski’ over there. 

Nature Trails

As real adventure lovers and nature explorers, we Ghoomophirosisters couldn’t miss out on the opportunity to go on the walk in the wilds. The captivating scenery of this place and the company of an experienced naturalist, along with us, further elevated the experience of the trail to the National Park. 

Thanks to the knowledgeable company alongside, we learned about the plant used for making vermillion (sindoor) in old times and about the Sal forests restored there. There are numerous hiking trails to explore the jungle interiors here, and we opted for the shortest one, which took just about 30 minutes.

Can’t Miss the Sundowner!

After the intriguing nature trail, it was time to unwind and cherish the magical sunset from a small hilltop. The Kanha Jungle camp had arranged the sundowner party. We enjoyed the blissful and scenic moments here. 

Bicycle Rides

If you love two-wheeler rides in the wilds, rent a bicycle from the camp resort at nominal charges and explore the nearby trails to satisfy your curiosity. Check out the available options with them and head out for a wonderful expedition to enjoy time with yourself in solemnity.

Reachability

We Ghoomophirosisters travelled for 11 Km from the Mukkai gate in Kanha National Park to reach the camp resort nestled in the Santapur village of Madhya Pradesh’s Balaghat district. Raipur is the nearest airstrip, situated at a distance of 180 Km from the destination. Gondia is the closest railway station, around 125 Km away and at a drive of almost 3 hours.

Our long-awaited plan for a jungle safari finally reached its destination, and we chose Pench Jungle Camp for a weekend getaway. As we reached the secluded camp spot, the scenic arrangement of the cottages, well-maintained lawns, and the hospitality of the guests took our sight. They stand strong by their principle of providing an ultimate stay experience for their guests, and we literally felt that!

As they claim, the team of Pench Jungle Camp are naturalists who strive hard to restore nature’s precious belongings without compromising the comfort of guests arriving at their den. The moment we checked in and took a quick tour of the property, we saw serene landscapes and luxurious vegetation around us. Whether you wish to spend some relaxed moments in the lap of nature or cherish wildlife tours, Pench Jungle Camp won’t turn you down.

Pench Jungle Camp also offers one-bedroom tents equipped with modern facilities such as a tea/coffee maker, air conditioners, and many others. The place also has a dedicated verandah, where you can enjoy amazing forest sights while sipping your favorite tea. There are also theme-based cottages here, which replicate the culture and accommodation of the villages located around the National Park.

After hopping around the property for a couple of hours, we Ghoomophirosisters were really hungry and wanted to munch on some really authentic meals at the Jungle camp. We were expecting the basic meal options at the Pench Jungle camp, but their dining facilities were beyond our expectations!

The mindfully designed in-house restaurant offers a phenomenal range of Indian, Continental, and Chinese cuisines. A delectable buffet breakfast and an extensive variety of lunch and dinner menus are a sheer treat for all guests. Do not forget to check out the timings for Breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the restaurant upon your arrival here. 

What’s More to Explore at the Pench Jungle Camp?

Besides the impeccable services and luxurious accommodation options, there’s a lot at Pench Jungle camp to keep the visitors engrossed. Here’s a detailed note on it:

  • We, Ghoomophirosisters, really enjoyed the location and vibe of the outdoor swimming pool here. It offers an uninterrupted view of the dense Mahua and Teak trees. It is refreshing to revive your inner energies and take a dip in the blues surrounded by greens!
  • The authentic Spa and Wellness center located here is bound to rejuvenate your soul and body from within. Our experience says that it’s worth taking a massage with qualified therapists and trained masseurs. 
  • If you are wondering about returning a souvenir from the Pench Jungle camp, visit the gift shop located right next to the lodge entrance. The shop exhibits a spectacular range of Indian products such as crafts, Jewelry, luggage, décor items, small gifts, and Jewelry items. 
  • Guests arriving here can expect many other facilities, like free Wi-Fi, though it might not work much due to dense forests, the library, and laundry services. 

Experiences to Cherish at Pench!

Whether you visit Pench Jungle camp to spend quality time with loved ones or witness the thrill of night spotlight jungle safaris, the place promises it all under one roof!

  • We spotted families enjoying get-togethers with the special bush dinners organized by the managerial staff in a dedicated spot. The cozy ambiance is worth the experience. 
  • The sundowner at the Khoka Lake near Pench Jungle camp was an unforgettable evening for us, the Ghoomophirosisters. The sunset views with a well-sit riverside set-up were blissful. The camp staff arranged an Open Safari Jeep drive of around 6 km to Khoka Lake, and the journey itself was thrilling. 
  • If you are visiting here in a group, count on the party mode, as the Bonfire arrangements with Barbecues and sit-outs amidst the lush greenery give a dreamy feeling. 
  • We Ghoomohphirosisters also had a wonderful outdoor breakfast experience as they made it a point to set up aloof arrangements for enjoying breakfast between the greens. 
  • Couples can spark their romance with poolside candle-lit dinners or Gazebo dinner arrangements, which allow complete privacy and endless talks worth cherishing for a lifetime. 

Time for the Jungle Safaris- Wild Life Awaits!

We Ghoomophirosisters booked both the daytime jungle safari ride and even the night safari to capture every natural wonder residing in Pench National Park. As we headed for the morning safari ride, we were able to spot many active animals, including the iconic Tiger of Pench. 

Open jeeps allow you to grab a panoramic view of the whole reserve. The Safari ride starts from the Turia gate, and it takes around 4-5 hours to complete the entire tour. 

Night Safari Expedition!

We Ghoomophirosisters also explored the night safari, also known as the wolf safari, here. As it was summer, we were lucky enough to spot many wild animal species, such as sambar deer, jackals, nocturnal birds, leopards, tigers, and nilgai. The special nighttime spotlight safari tour is conducted in an area of 484 sqm. It begins at 6.00 PM and continues until 9 PM. 

Our safari guide told us that night safari bookings can be made only after arriving here, and they’re restricted to the buffer zone. This is the core forest area where the animal population is dense, and you can witness uncommon animal species. 

Other excursions to enjoy at the Pench Jungle Camp are Cycle Safaris, a Nature Trail, a walk to the 38-acre private eco-park, a visit to nearby Potter’s village, a Drive to Rukhad, Bird watching, a Bicycle trip, and a lot more. 

Time to Go Back Home!

The trip to Pench Jungle Camp was filled with thrills, adventure, leisure, and fun. We can definitely rate it 4.5 on a scale of 5. The spacious and clean stay, courteous staff, and amazing arrangements made us enjoy every moment here.

Review – Taj Palace, Delhi

Located in the Diplomatic enclave which is the heart of Delhi’s government and commercial precinct, Taj Hotel is spread across six acres of land. This luxury hotel is the ideal choice for travelers who wish to soak up the city’s history or businessmen hoping to spend a luxurious time.

Entrance: At first glance, we were mesmerized by the grand look of the hotel. It was no doubt very posh and the interiors were modern but what else can you expect from a five-star hotel? Upon entrance, we were greeted nicely by the staff and the lobby design was incredible.

Rooms:

The room was air-conditioned with an LED and a mini-bar. There was also an electric kettle. The bathroom was a real beauty with modern amenities and a bathtub along with a shower. The hairdryer was also present which shows how much they cared for our comfort. The room itself was very spacious and as luxurious as it could get. With beautiful interiors and walls with textured art, the room was a mixture of modern style with Indian art. With Indian coloured palette and motifs, we experienced swoon-worthy comfort in the huge comfy bed.  There was a lot of space to move around and a fully stocked desk for any of our needs.

Tourist spots nearby:

The hotel is just a fifteen-minute drive away from the airport and 3.5 km away from Rashtrapati Bhavan. It is 6.4 km away from Jantar Mantar and India Gate as well. This makes it the perfect spot for stay for tourists. The location is one of the pros of living in the hotel since the views from the window are also charming. We were in the room with the garden view.

Dining:

There were three dining options. Masala Art was the restaurant serving delicious North Indian food and Orient express offered European cuisines. We alternated our lunch and dinner among the two and were impressed by the taste and quality of the food. Considering that it was a five-star hotel, of course, it was a bit expensive but the food was yummy with ample proportions. There was another option for Chinese food at Spicy Duck and it was equally good.  Additionally, there was a tea lounge at the lobby that also served finger food. And at last, a blue bar for alcoholic beverages.  The interiors of all the restaurants were fine and the service was extraordinary. There was also poolside private dining if you’re spending time with your partner.

 

Special Highlights:

The Jiva Grande Spa is something we have to specially mention because it was a mighty experience. With an assortment of massage therapies, relaxing facials and scrubs, we felt incredibly pampered and fresh. The hotel really focuses on your health as well as comfort. And the spa was the best in the city. There was also a salt sauna room.

With the gym room, swimming pool, golf clubs, there were plenty of things to entertain ourselves with. And the staff was always helpful and courteous. The personal butler service that Taj has going on really made us feel like VIPs

The marvelous hospitality and luxury that Taj offers are one of a kind. They go above and beyond to make you feel at home and it is a wonderfully memorable experience. Stay Like a King of the jungle

A Ten-minute drive away from Bandhavgarh National Park lays Kings Lodge, surrounded from all sides by forested hills and spread over an area of 14 hectares in Rancha village. We wandered over to the heart of wildlife and discovered this beautiful place. The luxury hotel has a rustic look and has 10 cottage rooms and 8 stilt cottage rooms with attached modern bathrooms.

While the place offers all the luxuries, it also gives you privacy and ambiance of being surrounded by nature. Like the name suggests, staying at this place will give you the feeling of being treated like a king, perhaps, the king of the jungle. The construction is done so well that the place almost blends in with its surrounding, becoming one with the forest and its trees and you experience wilderness in its purest form.

Rooms:

The rooms are what we would call a writer’s delight. With air conditioned rooms and a huge verandah from where we can enjoy views of the forest, inspiration is sure to strike and thus, the hotel provides a writing desk and chair for getting all the feelings out on paper. The cottage had wooden furniture in beautiful honey shades and cotton linen. The en-suite bathroom is modern and has 24 hr hot and cold water. The whole place is eco-friendly and has eco sensitive systems of disposal. They give you an aluminum bottle to fill with filtered water for use, avoiding the use of plastic bottles.

Dining experience

The dining hall was just as wonderful as the cottage itself. With a fireplace overlooking wild grasslands and multi-cuisine options, the dining experience was one we will remember forever. We also tried the outside barbeque and bush dinner, because that is what the trip was all about. Being out and about in the wild. The food they serve is only Indian, but it is well prepared.

What to do:

The itinerary at King’s Lodge follows Jeep Safari for spotting wildlife (which became easy as their naturalist team was with us), Elephant Safari, Bird watching, visiting of nearby villages and Craft workshops. The Naturalist team was very helpful and honestly, we would be lost without them. They heightened our overall holistic experience.  And the best part about the whole safari was that they encourage cycling or walking in the wilderness. No more formal Vehicular travels. They also organize a day trip to Sanjay National Park, which is an exciting opportunity to see Sloth bear.

Our Special thanks to Mr. Amit Mukherjee for being great host at Kings Lodge, Pugdundee Safaris. We feel under his guidance lodge has been providing services in an extraordinary way to its guests and it gets reflected in every small gesture.

Highlights:

There is a small nature library which helped us get acquainted with the parts of nature we were getting to see from the watch tower. It also has an in-house spa that gave the most relaxing massages to get the stress and tiredness out of our bodies. And if that wasn’t enough already, there was a swimming pool with a sundeck which was an absolute delight.

King’s lodge supported by Pugdundee Safaris is a top class place to stay at with your family or during your solo adventures in the wild. It will give you a feeling like you are living in the wilderness of the jungle, with the upside of being safe and having the internet. What more can one ask for? Do you wish to live in a treehouse?

Amidst the trees, in the heart of Bandhavgarh, we found the perfect Hideaway. This weekend took us #ghoomophirosisters to Bandhavgarh National Park in village Vijarhia. While we looked for a place where we could stop and rest along with enjoying the beauty nearby, we came across Bandhavgarh Tree House Hideaway supported by Pugdundee Safaris. The place is within close range of the Forest reserve and 220 km away from Jabalpur. With one look, it confirmed our belief that this would be an earthly experience.

As soon as we arrived, we were given a warm welcome by the manager Mr. Ashish Tirkey. Spread over 21 acres of forest, it has various tree houses that are within close range of one another. We woke up to the chirping of birds and slept to the critters of insects as the place has its resident species of birds, reptiles, and animals. It is the perfect place for accommodation as it overlooks Tiger reserve and Bandhavgarh Fort.

Rooms:

The rooms were a mixture of nature and modernism. With a contemporary design of tree-houses, it provides all amenities without taking away the traditional jungle vibe. The rooms were air-conditioned and also had an attached bathroom with 24 hours hot and cold water. The room was spacious with a wooden exterior and a deck where you could stand and just feel one with the wind. There is also a mini-bar and living area with writing desk, loungers on the deck and mosquito netting (that one really needs). The bed had soft cushions that drowned you in a dreamless sleep as soon as you lie down. The lighting was dim so as to give more natural ambiance to it.

Dining experience:

There is a dining hall on ground level that offers Indian, barbeque and continental meals. Though food options were limited, what we ate turned out to be delicious. The Hideaway has an in-house restaurant and bar which, like the rest of the place, is also a blend of natural feel with all modern luxuries. The restaurant is beautifully set with comfy chairs and on the upper level is the terrace bar aka the watering hole.

What to do:

Jeep Safaris are organised into Tiger reserve and there is also an option for Elephant Safaris. The Naturalist that accompanied us was a great help throughout the Safari. We saw varieties of birds and animals and were even able to spot tigers during our safari drive. There were marvellous sightings of Langur Monkeys and Sambar deer. Other activities that one can indulge in include bamboo weaving, visiting nearby villages or a trip to Sanjay National Park.

Highlights:

From the rooms to food and the cherry on top, helpful staff, this place gave us all the luxuries we could ask for and more. With the natural ambiance, necessary amenities and close proximity to wilderness, there is no better place for one to be, while on the journey of discovering oneself or just spending time in the lap of nature than Bandhavgarh Treehouse Hideaway.

In between Himalayas and Dal Lake- Vivanta by Taj, Srinagar

Hotel Vivanta is just a drive away from the airport and is located on a hill which gives you the perfect view of mountains and Dal lake from your room window. Nearby, are located some beautiful gardens such as Indira Gandhi memorial Tulip garden (2.1 km), Cheshmeshahi Garden, Hazratbal Shrine (2.1 km ) and Pari Mahal.

Lobby and Rooms:

As soon as you enter, the lobby greets you with the vibrant ambiance. The ceiling has a wooden frame that has been placed for aesthetic beauty and it also has ball-like ornamentation hanging from it. The wooden interior, as well as the Kashmiri rug that has been placed in the lobby, gives you the feeling that you are finally in Kashmir.

Now a suggestion is to pick the right room. The one on the top floor have the best sights of Dal lake from the front and a view of snow-capped mountains in the back as well. The location of the hotel is just perfect as you get to have the ultimate viewing experience.

All rooms have private balconies and comfortable beds and bathrooms with a great interior. Our room had a maroon contrast with cream. That was with the drapes and bed rest. It gave a good vibe. The room itself was spacious and comfortable. The room service facilities were quick and helpful. There is TV in every room but who cares when the view out of the window is so mesmerizing.

You can have your dining experience at Latitude, Jade Dragon or the Tea Lounge.

While the Wazwan experience and taste of Kashmiri delicacies at Latitude is incredible, you can try Chinese cuisines at Jade dragon. The whole dining experience where they lay down the seating arrangement in the way of Kashmiris and serve deliciously cooked food is a memorable one at latitude. You can have inside/outside dined.  The interior of the place as well as the presentation of food adds to your experience.

After having shikhara rides and other wandering expeditions in Kashmir, you can sit back and enjoy some delicious Kawa in the Tea Lounge. The food itself is delicious but what is better is the view and services. Everyone treats you very warmly. I highly recommend the breakfast Buffet or ou can try traditional Kawa while looking at the sunset.
